April 2017 - Preparing For Lift-Off

CARETAKING FOR OUR CLASS OF 2017
At Thomas Nelson we continuously work to support our Generals taking CARE of each other while pursuing their future story goals. Our Senior Lift-Off Week symbolically represents our mission and vision within the ideal of CAREtaking that allows our Generals to leave our school better than they found it. Check out the overview of events for our class of 2017.

MONDAY, MAY 22nd
LAYING THE FOUNDATION CEREMONY
Seniors will begin the week by symbolically laying the foundation for our community. During this ceremony all anticipated graduates will be given their brick by a member of the class of 2020. Student LEADERs from the class of 2020 will share stories of gratitude and inspiration. Seniors will then be called forward in small groups to place their brick on the ground to symbolize their foundational role in our Nelson County community.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 24th
SENIOR SALUTE AWARDS CEREMONY
Starting with a reception in The Commons from 8:30 to 9:00 Seniors and their selected sponsor will be seated in their reserved spot on the gym floor. All seniors will receive celebratory G pins and graduation cords while also being recognized for academic excellence and scholarship accomplishments. All TNHS students and parents are invited to this special event.

THURSDAY, MAY 25th TORCHLIGHT CEREMONY
This special event is hosted by the Hamilton House and will bring together our Juniors and Seniors to participate in passing the CARE torch. Select Seniors will share advice, stories, and insight with underclassmen. Following the shared readings, each senior will symbolically light their candle and pass the CARE torch to a Junior class member as they process around the balcony of the gymnasium for their last time as a Thomas Nelson student.

MOOSE HUNTER BREAKFAST - FRIDAY, MAY 26th
We will have an all Senior breakfast and take attendance in the cafeteria starting at 8:50 AM. An annual TNHS tradition, students and teachers will share their favorite memories.
